The bulletins of countries make up one of the key instruments to dissemination. These documents, succint and accessible, bring up the main results on the key subject of interests from the data acquired in a format that is easily used by political decision-makers and journalists. They are published with the Summary of results, which provides the frequencies and the distribution by theme. Some Bulletins are published on the Afrobarometer website as Briefing papers.
The results from the investigations are also reported to the Afrobarometer Working Papers where the authors and others researchers are different partners in the Afrobarometer network. Launched in October of 1999, this series summed up to more than 100 numbers in November 2008. The main publications of Round 3 are the Afrobarometer documents of the work N. 60 and 61, "Where is Africa going - The opinions from the grassroots" and "The citizens and the State in Africa - the new results the 3rd Round of the Afrobarometer". They summarize and compare results across countries (N. 61) and within the time frame (N. 60). Moreover, the documents from the work N. 11 and 34 respectively compile results from Round 1 and 2.
The electronic versions of all publications and of all the summaries of results as well as most of the data of Round 1 and 3 can be downloaded from the Website www.afrobarometer.org, there are also useful graphic results and other valuable information. The website is a window into the world on the Afrobarometer and the main vehicle of dissemination of informations on the activities of the network. Moreover, "Online Afrobarometer Data Analysis" is a new function in progress of being launched in December 2007. This function, accessible from the Afrobarometer website would help users without computer software normally required for data analysis, access to the Afrobarometer data and the generate base frequencies, cross tables and line graphics.
A book was also published on the results from Round 1, titled "Public Opinion, Democracy, and Market Reform in Africa, edited in October 2004 by Cambridge University Press.
Across these reports, books, public presentations, and communication events, the Afrobarometer network hopes to bring a precious contribution to the consolidation of democracy, and the economic development in Africa. The results may verify, bring into question or complete formal statistics collected by the State. Even better, the Afrobarometer lets ordinary Africans be informed on what other citizens think in their respective country, and across regions, but also help to intensify the voices of those who might not have been heard.
