Afrobarometer

The African barometer of governance, democracy and economic reforms

The Afrobarometer is a series comparative inquiries led in more than 20 African countries on the attitudes of the population. Based on samples of national representativity, these investigation evaluate, among others, the attitudes of the citizens towards democracy, governance, economic reforms, civil society and the quality of life.

With the national partnership of each country, the Afrobarometre is a joint venture between the Institute for Democracy in South Africa (Idasa - Institute for Democracy in South Africa), the Ghanean centre for Democratic Development (CDD-Ghana – Centre for Democratic Development) and the Institute for Empirical Research in Political Economy (IREEP – Benin), with the technical support of Michigan State University (MSU – Michigan State University) and the University of Cape Town (UCT – South Africa).
