Support and Partnerships

IERPE makes it a mission to link high level training in quantitative political economy to applied research in development economics. Through an active cooperation with government agencies, political parties and civil society, IERPE makes available the results of the research project it has undertaken to various stakeholders so as to influence the quality of service delivery.

Although IERPE seeks funding for specific projects, its success rate depends primarily on its ability to raise enough funds for its global operations. Generous support and donations from donors and partners will be specifically mentioned.

IERPE funding needs are for the following programs:

  • Financing students

The fifth class of the Masters program in Public Economics and Applied Statistics will begin its academic year at IERPE in September 2010. IERPE will have to finance most of these students' studies by offering them scholarships. All contributions will thus help IERPE to select and train Africa's future researchers.

  • Summer conferences and key events

IERPE will organize summer conferences and sessions pertinent to key issues in research in political economy. Since July 2004, intensive training sessions have been organized on the evaluation of development programs. Such activities will enable the Institute to promote an active collaboration between students, professionals and researchers from other institutions. They will also facilitate access to the results of the Institute's research projects by government agencies and development partners.

  • Data collection

It is imperative to use reliable data for research to be credible. That is why IERPE aims at collecting data on the allocation of public goods and services. This data will enable interested researchers to rigorously assess development programs that are being executed. Any financial contribution towards data collection will make it easy for researchers to update indicators on supply and demand of public goods and services.

  • Other types of contribution

IERPE accepts all types of contributions. Donations in kind are as important as financial ones. These can include, learning equipment, computers, photocopy machines or office supplies, rebates for airfares and communication costs (phone, post office, etc.).

For more information or if you would like to make a donation, please contact Professor Léonard Wantchékon at New York University (USA).
